Uruguay's young goalkeeper Fabian Carini is
determined to extend his World Cup experience by keeping Senegal at bay in the
South Americans' final Group A match.
The 22-year-old Juventus stopper has been in fine form during the tournament,
shining in the 2-1 defeat to Denmark and the goalless draw with France.
Despite his efforts, Uruguay only have one point and must win their last match
to have any chance of reaching the second phase.
If they do beat Senegal, they still need France to fail to beat leaders
Denmark by two goals to go through on goal difference.
And Carini is desperate to avoid an early exit, especially after such a drawn
out qualification.
Victor Pua's men finished fifth in the South American zone, and only booked
their place in Japan and Korea with a play-off win against Australia.
He said: "We will give our best against Senegal. After two years in the
qualifying, it would be very sad letting this chance go.
"If we take advantage of this chance, we can qualify. But it won't be easy.
There're no easy rivals in a World Cup. We'll have to give 200%."
On a personal level, Carini is grateful to be enjoying World Cup football so
early in his career.
He added: "I've been lucky playing all these big games, but a World Cup is a
whole different thing.
"I try to get as much experience as I can here because I don't know if I will
be in another. This is my first World Cup and may be the last one."
