Saudi Arabia goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Deayea felt his side's stoic performance in their narrow 1-0 defeat to African Nations champions Cameroon showed "the true value of Arabian football".

The Saudis competed with the Lions throughout and, despite having to concede most of the possession, created more clear-cut chances.

"I believe we did very well," Al-Deayea said. "I feel we showed our true value in football.

"It was a satisfying display by all our players, and we were unlucky to miss some clear-cut opportunities in both halves."

And the Saudi keeper reckons that with a little more experience on the big stage, Arabian players could begin to make a major impact on world football.

He added: "This side is now boasting some promising young prospects and I think the future belongs to us in that respect."
