Denmark are in buoyant mood despite having failed
to beat Senegal and seal a place in the second round.
The Danes might have taken all three points from their game in Daegu had a
goal from Jon Dahl Tomasson been allowed to stand instead of erroneously being
wiped away for a hand ball.
Tomasson chested the ball down and put the ball into the back of the net, but
all he got for his show of superlative skill was a yellow card since the referee
thought he had controlled the ball with his hand.
The goal would have given Denmark a 2-0 lead, but instead the Africans fought
back, dominated the second half and claimed a 1-1 draw.
The Danes head Group A with four points alongside Senegal.
And with defending champions France held to a 0-0 draw by Uruguay, Morten
Olsen's Denmark need to avoid a two-goal defeat to the French in the final group
game on Tuesday to book their place in the second phase.
Thomas Helveg, the AC Milan star, is hopeful.
The experienced right-back said: "Our chances are good. We both will have to
play to get points and the main thing will be who quickly gets this second match
out of their system. But I'm confident we will get a good result against
France."
"We have an excellent chance," Olsen said.
"France's draw with Uruguay was an excellent result from our point of view,
because now the French have to score twice to advance from the group.
"The games were a really good picture of how tight and even our group is. All
four teams have the possibility to advance from the group, so you could say that
the excitement is still very much alive."
Defender Martin Laursen is confident, and he knows the cause of France will
not be helped by the absence of Arsenal forward Thierry Henry and Emmanuel
Petit.
Both players are suspended after Henry was sent off against the South
American's and Petit picked up a second yellow card.
Laursen said "Even though France have a lot of good players, it's still two
of their key men who have to sit out the match against us, which will naturally
weaken them.
"Straight away it's a good for us. We can now get away with losing 1-0 and
still go further on goal difference. However there's no doubt that we'll go on
to the pitch to get a result and therefore decide matters for ourselves."
