Costa Rica's coach Alexander Guimaraes is still awaiting a fresh contract offer.
His present deal expires after the World Cup and Guimaraes, who was part of Costa Rica's 1990 World Cup squad, says he is still waiting to hear from his bosses about a new deal.
He said: "I would love to hear an offer to continue this project until 2006, but I can't pressure anybody to give me that offer.
"But I'm at peace, because I feel that the best thing I can do is focus in the World Cup, and then think in the future."
"I have already discarded other chances, because I want to hear what the Costa Rican Federation says.
"I'm a bit surprised because I haven't heard a word from them."
He guided the Central Americans to their first finals in 12 years, and they are just one win away from reaching the second round.
They meet Turkey on Sunday high in confidence following the 2-0 victory over China in their first match.
