Ivan Kaviedes is ready and willing to take the
field against Mexico and lead Ecuador to a first-ever World Cup finals victory.
The Emelec striker is likely to replace injured veteran Alex Aguinaga in the
South Americans' line-up as they look to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to
Italy in their finals debut.
Kaviedes, who holds the world record for goals in a top-flight season with 48,
could be forced into an unfamiliar midfield role in Aguinaga's absence.
Coach Hector Dario Gomez favoured a 4-5-1 formation against the Europeans,
leaving Agustin Delgado alone up front.
But the former Celta Vigo and Perugia man was just happy to be in with a
chance of playing.
"I'm in perfect condition," he said.
"I won't have a problem to play where Gomez decides, whether in midfield or
as forward behind Delgado."
