Nigeria coach Festus Onigbinde believes Kanu's fitness will be key to his team's qualification chances.

The Arsenal striker was withdrawn in Nigeria's opening 1-0 defeat by Argentina with a stomach injury, but should be back for Friday's match against Sweden.

Defeat in that match will end Nigeria's hopes of reaching the second round, so Kanu's involvement is made all the more important.

"He just managed to finish the first half and couldn't continue the second half," said Onigbinde.

"It was like working with 10 men and in that situation we want to concentrate more on defence. I believe that was why our attack was not strong enough."
