Japan star Hidetoshi Nakata believes a win in their opening match against Belgium is crucial to their World Cup hopes.

Japan must overcome home expectation and an under-rated Belgium outfit if they are to register three vital points.

"To begin the World Cup with a win would be crucial in order to continue our journey to the second round," the Parma playmaker told www.acparma.it.

"We know we are facing a well-organised team, but we are ready to get the three points," the 25-year-old added.

After Belgium, Japan face Russia and Tunisia in Group H.
