Uruguay and their captain Paolo Montero fear no one at the World Cup, even though they sneaked into the tournament with a play-off victory over Australia.
The South Americans start on Saturday with a tough tie against Denmark, before facing France five days later and then finishing Group A against Senegal.
"If we are well positioned and concentrate then we can complicate things for anyone," said Montero, who plays for Juventus.
Few who have watched Uruguay play in their warm-up games will disagree.
The side never gives opponents a moment's respite and Montero wants to see them carry on as usual in Korea.
"We have to give everything on the pitch," he said. "Teamwork is what will
take us forward."
Uruguay excel because of their teamwork, but they do boast one of the most dangerous strikers in the world in Inter Milan striker Alvaro Recoba who can
conjure up goals when in the crucial moments of games.
Montero says neither he, nor Recoba, should take too much credit.
"One man alone will get nowhere," he said. "We have to work as a group and look for the support of every companion."
Montero has forged a successful career in Italy's Serie A. He played a crucial part in Juve's dramatic 2001-2 Scudetto-winning campaign.
The defender believes the World Cup has come at the perfect time in his career.
"I'm at my ideal moment; I'm 30 years old and I have the maturity you need to perform," he said.
