Paraguay have a major injury worry as they prepare for Sunday's opening game against South Africa after key midfelder Carlos Paredes pulled up in training with a calf injury.
Although he is only 25 years old, Paredes, who plays for Porto, has won 41 caps and scored seven goals and his absence will be a real blow to coach Cesare
Maldini's plans.
Paredes has been given a scan and Agustin Casaccia, the team doctor, has spromised to do his best to get him fit.
"It is a last-minute problem, but we are going to try to get him into shape," he said.
