TRAPATTONI - FRANCE DEFEAT A WARNING

Italy coach Giovanni Trapattoni believes that Senegal's shock win against France should act as a warning that African football is ready to rival the game's traditional superpowers.

The 63-year-old former Fiorentina chief was not shaken by the 1-0 result from Seoul, and claims Europe and South American giants must be increasingly wary of the African threat this summer.

"Notwithstanding France's superiority today in terms of ball possession and pitch control, this match confirms the overall level in international football," he told www.gazzetta.it, the website of newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport.

"We have to respect all the squads and I, for one, am not surprised with the improvement of African football, regarding their technique and organisation."
