USA coach Bruce Arena has admitted Sunderland midfielder Claudio Reyna is the key to his side's success.

All eyes will be on Reyna when he leads the Americans against Group D favourites Portugal on June 5.

And Arena has told the former Glasgow Rangers man that the World Cup stage is his to perform on.

"Claudio is a good player and I think this is Claudio's World Cup to show that.

"I don't think we're going to ask him to do too much, but we're going to ask him to step up and be the player he's capable of being," he told www.ussoccer.com.

"He won't be asked to stop the other team from scoring and to score our goals, I'm not asking him to do everything.

"What we are asking him to be is a quality midfielder during this World Cup, and he's certainly capable of demonstrating that."
