With fans around the world eagerly anticipating a
feast of football when the World Cup kicks-off on Friday, former Tunisia manager
Abdulmajid Chetali offers a different view.
According to Chetali, who led Tunisia in the 1978 World Cup in Argentina, the
finals will be devoid of excitement with coaches paying more attention to
tactics than attacking football.
"Sheer thrills, entertaining spectacles and goal-bonanzas won't be the order
of the day in the upcoming World Cup finals," Chetali said.
"Let's get it straight.
"The teams will play logically, adapting tactics in order to gain positive
results. There'll be no brilliant spectacles now that the levels between all
nations are becoming very tight," he told Saudi Arabia daily Al-Jazirah today.
"The world is becoming smaller and football is no exception.
"I won't be surprised if teams like Argentina, France or even Brazil will be
winning games by the narrowest of margins."
