Russia midfielder Alexei Smertin is confident he will be fit to start his team's World Cup opener against Tunisia next Wednesday.
The tenacious Bordeaux star strained a thigh muscle in training on Tuesday but after a medical examination Russian team doctors have told him he should be fit within "two or three" days.
And the 27-year-old added: "We have good conditions here at our base for training and for recovery so I should be fine. Morale is high and there are many well-wishers here."
Russia were drawn in Group H alongside co-hosts Japan, Belgium and the Tunisians.
