Paraguay coach Cesare Maldini and his captain Jose Luis Chilavert are in disagreement about the strength of World Cup rivals Spain.
The two teams have been drawn together in Group B alongside Slovenia and South Africa.
But while the veteran Italian coach believes Spain are "the best team in the group", the Paraguayan goalkeeper argues the gap between the sides "is much less than what many people think".
"Spain had an easy qualification. They faced weak teams in Austria, Israel, Bosnia and Liechtenstein," said Chilavert after the Paraguayans first training session in Busan, South Korea.
Two weeks ago he claimed Jose Antonio Camacho's men would not have qualified for the finals if they had to play in South America.
"Paraguay had to qualify facing Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. We also had to play at 3,000 metres high in La Paz, and in Ecuador, at 2,600m," he added.
Maldini played down Chilavert's comments, however, saying: "His [Chilavert's] words have been exaggerated by the press and he never wanted to say that Spain is a worthless team."
"In our group, the Spanish team is the better one, because it has experienced and great players. Chilavert didn't say that Spain are a bad team."
