FIFA have told Croatia that their shirts will
have to be changed for the start of the World Cup.
Designed by sportswear manufacturers Nike, the shirt number was displayed over
the traditional red and white checked print design.
However, the governing body have insisted that the shirt numbers be displayed
over a plain white background to make them easier to distinguish.
In the warm-up match against a Toyama XI, the Croats wore a big white sticker
over the back of their shirts with a number written over it.
Croatia will meet Mexico in their opening Group G clash on June 3.
