South Africa boss Jomo Sono believes his side are on course for a good World Cup.

Bafana Bafana appear to be hitting form at exactly the right time after four warm-up wins on the trot - against Madagascar, Scotland, Turkey and J-League side Vissel Kobe.

"We are right on track," said Sono on Tuesday after arriving in Gangneung, where the South Africans will make their final preparations for the Group B opener against Paraguay on June 2.

"The preparations have been good but we are not here to talk about the past, we are looking forward."

And Sono puts the success down to the freedom he gives his player on the pitch.

"We don't have strict rules for the players," added the coach.

"I treat them as my friends and what I've said to them is that they should be free to do what they want on the pitch.

"But they have to know that when we don't have possession they have to hunt in pairs."

A welcome party was there to greet Sono's party with Gangneung's deputy mayor Choi Myeang-hee telling the South Africans that the whole of the town would "pray that you achieve your goals" before the delegation headed to Bafana Bafana's hotel.

More banners reading "Victory for South Africa" and "We love South Africa", adorned the five-star residence where the side will remain until the end of the group phase.
