Saudi Arabia team manager Prince Turki Bin Chalid believes the squad's never-say-die spirit will help them progress beyond the group stage at the World Cup finals.

The Saudis face a difficult task to qualify from Group E after being matched with Germany, Cameroon and the Republic of Ireland.

The Arabic side's optimism has been further dampened by Sunday's 3-0 friendly defeat against Tokyo Verdy.

Despite the uphill task ahead Bin Chalid said: "Our secret weapon is our mental strength. We don't accept defeat as a possible result.

"Maybe we're not as physically strong as Cameroon, Germany or Ireland. But we don't play the way they do. Our strength is in our team play.

"We don't have one diamond. We're a whole team, they're all heroes. Our most dangerous man is our coach, who put them all together."

Saudi Arabia are the first Arabic team to qualify for three World Cup finals.

They qualified for the second round in 1994 with repeating that success the target this time around.
