Ecuador's players underwent a punishing training
session on Tuesday after coach Hernan Dario Gomez accused them of losing their
spark.
A gruelling schedule of warm-up friendlies had left some members of the squad
looking jaded but Gomez's answer was more hard work.
"This team has had great spark for a whole year, but in the last few days it
has been extinguished," Gomez said.
"All the players answered in a great way. Every day they're better, and they
will be in perfect condition for the match against Italy."
As a reward for their efforts, the squad were given the afternoon off allowing
Gomez the chance to watch videos of the Azzurri, who they face on June 3.
"Italy are a very solid team. If you make a mistake, they will take advantage
of it," he concluded.
