Poland goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek believes the
national team are on a mission to bring joy to their long-suffering fans back
home.
Jerzy Engel's squad have suffered mixed fortunes recently after failing to
reproduce the sparkling form that saw them become the first European qualifiers
for the finals.
Warm-up defeats to Japan (2-0) and Romania (2-1) were tempered by a 1-0
victory over Estonia last weekend.
Now Dudek is keen to give the fans at home something to shout about.
"I see that we as football players have a sort of mission to accomplish,"
said Liverpool star Dudek.
"Polish society lives in hard times, so our success would be very good for
the Polish people.
"After 16 years we are playing in the World Cup finals again.
"We should all be happy for that and not ask why are we going there after the
losses to Japan and Romania.
"We're going there to qualify from the group as a minimum.
"In Korea there will be time to concentrate only on sport matters. I'm sure
that once we are there we will return to the good form which we presented during
qualification."
