JAPANESE CONFIDENCE ON THE UP
Japan are developing a growing belief that this
World Cup will demonstrate they are no longer cannon-fodder for the world's
elite.
Having held Sweden to a 1-1 draw on Sunday, the co-hosts are growing in
confidence ahead of their opening match against Belgium on June 4.
"I'm satisfied with the performance as we played a good game," said coach
Philippe Troussier.
"The result has given some confidence to the team, particularly as Sweden are
a top team.
"This will give us some momentum going into the World Cup."
