Picture Zlatko Zahovic - doesn't fear Spanish (Allsport).

NO PAIN FROM SPAIN - ZAHOVIC

Zlatko Zahovic has lit the touchpaper ahead of Slovenia's World Cup opener against Spain by suggesting that the Spaniards will be their weakest opponents.

The Slovenians, who surprised the football world with their impressive attacking football at Euro 2000, open their Group B campaign against Spain in Gwangju on June 2.

And, although Paraguay and South Africa are among their group opponents, Benfica forward Zahovic has cheekily insisted it will be "more simple" to get a result against the Spaniards.

"For us it will be more simple to play against Spain," said Zahovic. "Slovenia, I am sure, will be the best surprise of this World Cup.

"We will play this game without the pressure of being expected to get a result.

"We know Spain are better, but also that they are expected to win.

"This will be our chance, we have good forwards and can spring a few surprises."

While Zahovic is optimistic Slovenia can produce a shock in Japan and Korea he is more realistic when it comes to who he feels will be the eventual World Cup winners.

"Argentina and France are my favourites," he said.

"Argentina have a very good team but France have won everything in the last four years."
