Injuries have denied Mexico coach Javier Aguirre
the chance to play his first team in Sunday's friendly against J-League side
Tokyo Verdi.
Aguirre will be without at least four players for what will be Mexico's only
90-minute warm-up before the start of the World Cup.
Star striker Cuauhtemoc Blanco is missing due to a knee injury and will be
replaced by either Jared Borgetti or Francisco Palencia.
Blanco is also in mourning following the death of his grandmother back in
Mexico.
Goalkeeper Oscar Perez, defender Alberto Rodriguez and midfielder Rafael
Garcia are also out of the match.
Perez is struggling with an injury to his left hand, meaning reserve
goalkeeper Oswald Sanchez will be between the sticks against Tokyo Verdi.
Rodriguez is the only one of the four absentees who has been unable to train
during the last few days because of his injured right ankle.
Aguirre hasn't yet announced who will take Rodriguez's place but Ramon Morales
steps in for Garcia in the middle of the park.
Garcia is still recovering from the muscle injury he has had since last week's
friendly against AC Milan. He should rejoin his team-mates for training on
Monday.
"The idea is to use the game as a chance to acclimatise, get the players
loose and to play a match - nothing special," Aguirre said of the friendly.
After Sunday's match, Mexico have arranged a training game against a local
side on Tuesday before kicking off their World Cup campaign against Croatia on
June 3.
