TOTTI CAN BE A WORLD STAR -- TRAP

Giovanni Trapattoni believes Roma star Francesco Totti could prove the difference between World Cup success and failure for Italy.

Totti has missed much of Italy's warm-up to the trip to the Far East through injury and made his return to training for the first time since April 21 on Saturday.

The charismatic 25-year-old is back in the squad though and is set to start Sunday's warm-up against Kashmira Antlers as Trapattoni looks to fine tune his team ahead of Italy's Group G opener against Equador on June 3.

And Trapattoni is delighted to have his star man back.

"For us Francesco's return is definitely very important," said the silver-haired coach.

"He is the player with the added touch, he's brilliant, and he could just be the player who makes the difference in our team."

Totti was conspicuous by his absence as the Azzurri fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat against the Czech Republic in Prague on May 18.

But he is on the mend and Trapattoni is confident he will play a major role in the Far East.

"I feel that if he is OK physically, he could be one of the stars of this World Cup," added Trapattoni.

"I'd like to have him on the field at least 60-70 minutes during the match against the Kashima Antlers."
