Mexico's bosses are hoping coach Javier
Aguirre will remain as national coach after the World Cup.
The 44-year-old rescued the Mexicans' qualification bid when he took over from
Enrique Meza after defeats to Costa Rica and Honduras last June.
He won high praise for guiding the team to Japan and Korea, and the Mexican
football federation now want him to carry on regardless of what happens in Japan
and Korea.
Federation chief Alejandro Burillo Azcarraga said: "He has done a great job.
He built a strong team with harmony and potential.
"It's important to have continuity, because it's not about this competition
only, it's also about the next one.
"So we need him to stay so we don't lose everything that has been done up to
here. Because this group can go really far if it stays together."
Spanish side Osasuna are also reportedly tracking the former Pachuca boss, but
he refuses to speak about his future until after the World Cup.
Aguirre said: "My only concern now is this World Cup, about anything else,
we can speak after this tournament ends."
