Mexico's World Cup squad arrived in Japan on Tuesday buoyed by their friendly victory over AC Milan at the weekend.
Javier Aguirre's side were greeted in the northern city of Fukui by the Japanese ambassador after flying in from Los Angeles.
The Mexicans will have one final warm-up match against Japanese outfit Verdy Kawasaky before the big kick-off against Croatia on June 3.
Victory could fuel more optimism back home after the 2-1 defeat of Serie A giants from Milan caused a stir in the national press.
"The 'Tri' improves", said Ovaciones newspaper whilst Esto enthused: "Mexico said goodbye dreaming".
Aguirre was less impressed with his side's chances however, and said: "We can't play as we did against Milan at the World Cup."
