Saudi Arabian officials have claimed that they were forced to cancel their World Cup warm-up match with Paraguay due to the South American's "astronomical" financial demands.

The Saudi's have rescheduled and will meet Japanese first division outfit Verdy Tokyo as they build-up to their World Cup opener against Cameroon.

"Astronomical financial requests from Paraguay prompted us to cancel the game on Monday," a Saudi spokesman told the Al-Riyadh daily newspaper.

Meanwhile, Saudi coach Nasser Al-Johar has challenged his side to make a name for themselves at the showpiece tournament.

"We should put the 1998 World Cup venture behind us, if to claim positive and noticeable results here in Japan," he said.

"Everything possible has been done provide us with the ingredients to have a good campaign."
