Former Juventus star Zbigniew Boniek has claimed that Polish football is now beginning to bear fruit after years in the wilderness.
"What we are seeing on the field now is a dividend of the changes made by the new football authorities," he said.
Boniek, arguably Poland's greatest ever player and now the Polish Football Association vice-president, believes that their upturn in fortunes will be continued at the World Cup finals.
The Poles qualified for their first World Cup finals since 1986 in style and continued their preparations for the showpiece tournament in Japan and Korea with a 1-0 victory over Estonia at the weekend.
