Russia endured a tough LG Cup clash before losing out on penalties to Belarus at the end of a marathon two-hour clash.
Extra time could not separate the sides and the game was settled when Ruslan
Pimenov's sudden-death penalty was saved by Belarus goalkeeper Gennadi
Tumilovich.
The visitors had taken a 15th-minute lead through Valentin Belkevich's strike
from the edge of the penalty area.
Andrei Solomatin levelled from the spot 13 minutes later after Denis Laktionov
had been felled in the area.
After extra time it finished 2-2 in the penalty shoot-out before Pimenov missed
his side's eighth effort.
Russia open their World Cup campaign against Tunisia on June 5.
