Feyenoord and Poland striker Ebi Smolarek
will miss this summer's World Cup after tearing knee ligaments in training.
The 21-year-old did the damage during the final club training session of the
season, and will be out for at least two months after next week's surgery.
It is the latest in a long line of recent set backs for the forward, who had
just recovered from an ankle injury sustained against Sparta Rotterdam in
March.
And earlier this week Smolarek was told he was being investigated by UEFA after
a high concentration of cannabinol was found in his system following the UEFA
Cup quarter-final with PSV Eindhoven.
