Four fighter planes, thousands of police, tens of thousands of fans and one big party greeted World Cup winners Brazil as they returned home on Tuesday.
The people of Brazil had not waited for the players to arrive home, and have been celebrating ever since Ronaldo's goals secured a historic fifth title on Sunday.
The 'Canarinha' flew into the capital city Brasilia with an air force honour guard of four fighter aircraft, and touched down at 9:46am local time.
There to greet them were an estimated 20,000 fans who exploded into a samba celebration of vibrant colour and thunderous noise.
Amid a mass of green and yellow, the players emerged from the plane waving the national flag and ready to party like it was 1958, 1962, 1970 or 1994 again.
More than 4,300 policemen have been assigned to secure a smooth ride for Luiz Felipe Scolari's team ahead of their bus-ride through the capital.
Brazilian president Fernando Cardoso will officially congratulate the squad in the Planalto Palace, before the players head for their next destination, Rio de
Janeiro.
