Germany coach Joachim Low will not be told who to pick in his national team by Bayern Munich's general manager Uli Hoeness after he said it was "too early" to name 20-year-old Thomas Muller in the national team.
Hoeness claimed that the national team is "good enough to play a World Cup without Muller" after the youngster's third goal of the season inspired Bayern to a 2-1 victory over Freiburg on Saturday.
Low was watching on from the stands and he has already suggested that Muller will be in his squad to face Chile and Egypt in friendly matches next month.
And he reminded Hoeness that he too made his international debut at a young age.
"It is an important part of the DFB's (German Football Association) philosophy to integrate young, talented players early," he explained in Kicker magazine.
"Also, Uli Hoeness was only 20 when he made his national team debut, and Franz Beckenbauer was also.
"We will just have to wait and see what happens in November."
Bayern appear to be trying to protect the player, who has been involved in almost all of their matches so far this season having become a first-team regular under coach Louis van Gaal.
They would probably rather see the player use the next break for internationals to recharge his batteries in view of the crucial programme of Bundesliga and Champions League matches which they have to contend with before Christmas.
And Low showed understanding for Hoeness not wanting Muller to be distracted with talk of playing at next year's World Cup.
"Uli and I totally agree on that," he added.
