Picture Juninho - wants a starting role in glittering Brazil team.

JUNINHO TARGETS WORLD CUP SPOT

Brazil midfielder Juninho Pernambucano has outlined his determination to make an impact at next summer's World Cup.

The Lyon free-kick specialist is likely to travel to Germany as back-up to playmakers Ronaldinho and Kaka, but he is aware many other players have gone to a major tournament on the fringes yet emerged as a world star.

Juninho told the Jornal do Brasil newspaper: "I hope this can happen again. (Coach Carlos Alberto) Parreira knows he can count on me.

"If I can be a starter it would be much better but what is important is all the squad think about the final result, which is taking the title.

"I really want to be a world champion. I'm preparing a lot for the competition and I want to be ready to profit from any chance."

Brazil have been drawn in Group F alongside Croatia, Australia and Japan.
