Tottenham have signed France Under-18 defender Dorian Dervitte from Lille.

The move was completed at the start of July and Dervitte will join up with the club's development squad at the start of the season.

Dervitte made nine appearances for France Under-17s and played in all six of their European Under-17 Championship qualifiers in the 2004-05 season.

He stepped up into the Under-18s this year and recently played against Germany and Romania.

Spurs sporting director Damien Comolli said: "At 6ft 4in, Dorian is a tall, strong defender with excellent technical skills. We believe he comes to us with enormous potential for the future."
