JOHNSON JOINS ALEX

Crewe boss Dario Gradi has drafted in another striker for the new season with Manchester United's Eddie Johnson joining on a six-month loan deal.

The 20-year-old, who left Gresty Road for Old Trafford five years ago, spent last season in the Championship with Coventry.

Gradi also signed former Wrexham man Juan Ugarte on a free transfer this week as he re-shapes his attacking options for the new season.

Johnson has been a long-standing target for Gradi, who has a specific central striker's role in a three-man forward line in mind for the youngster.
