GOMES SEALS SPURS SWITCH

Tottenham have signed goalkeeper from Heurelho Gomes for an undisclosed fee thought to be around £8million.

Gomes, a fans' favourite at PSV, had requested a transfer shortly after the club claimed their 21st league title last season, citing differences with managing director Jan Reker.

The 27-year-old, who made his name at Cruzeiro, was an ever-present in PSV's title-winning campaign, conceding only 24 goals in 34 league games. It was his fourth successive Dutch league win since joining the club in 2004.

And despite admitting it was "hard" to leave PSV, he is looking forward to playing in the Premier League.

Gomes told the club's official website: "I'm very happy to have arrived at Spurs, my first impressions of the club are very good and I am looking forward to working hard for the team.

"It was hard to leave PSV because I was there for four good years. I've left a very big club but I've come to another very big club, so I'm looking forward to it."
