2100: Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has rubbished speculation that Fabio Capello could take charge of the side.

2056: Andrey Arshavin's agent insists there is no offer on the table for the Arsenal midfielder.

1855: Lord Triesman believes it would have been impossible for the FA not to accept Fabio Capello's resignation.

1841: Werder Bremen have handed 19-year-old striker Niclas Fullkrug a full-time professional contract.

1819: The Football Association could still face a claim for constructive dismissal despite Fabio Capello's decision to resign as England manager, an expert in sports law has warned.

1814: Stephen Robinson has been named as Northern Ireland's new Under-21 manager, succeeding Steve Beaglehole in the post.

1755: Andre Villas-Boas remains relaxed about the recent close scrutiny of owner Roman Abramovich at Chelsea's training ground.

Is that someone's pants on fire I smell?

1750: Derek Banks writes: "Brendan Rodgers of Swansea should be tempted to do the job. He has conjured a brilliant team that plays probably the best game in town. We need a coach that can get his teams to play like this with what is available from the gene pool. Harry has achieved his fantastic position by spending heavily in the transfer market. How can we beat spain? The England teams of the future need the type of Coaching Brendan Rodgers can bring to our game."

1728: Honduran midfielder Jorge Claros is in line for his Hibernian debut against Aberdeen on Saturday after the paperwork on his transfer was completed.

1720: I've inexplicably wasted 15 minutes of my shift creating the picture for this story, but it's definately worth it. On that note, Sunderland's Nicklas Bendtner and Lee Cattermole have been charged with criminal damage after cars were allegedly vandalised close to the home of their arch rivals.

1655: A dual role has been tipped for Harry Redknapp to accept in regards to simultaneously managing Spurs and England, but Former Wales manager believes Harry Redknapp would find it a "bit too much" to juggle national and club jobs.

1643: Is there a worse run club in the world than Hearts? There must be one....but perhaps not. Kenny Shiels believes Paulo Sergio should have walked out on Hearts after being prevented from picking first-choice keeper Marian Kello - as he would have done in the same situation.

1620: Blackburn manager Steve Kean expects to reconcile with wantaway captain Chris Samba but has revealed the defender will miss Saturday's visit of QPR due to injury.

Think I've got more chance of getting the England job to be honest.

1604: As the fallout comes full circle, QPR owner Tony Fernandes has been left amazed at the fallout that has taken place this week in the wake of an incident that unfolded at his football club nearly three months ago.

1551: Here's some more from David Bernstein, who has denied forcing Fabio Capello out of the England job but admitted the Football Association did not fight to keep the Italian.

1540: West Brom striker Saido Berahino has bolstered Brentford's attacking ranks by joining on loan until the end of the season.

1533: Colin Ross writes: "Reece, I’d like to put Steve Bruce’s name in the hat for interim manager and if you wait five minutes I’ll dig out my flak jacket. I’ve always thought that the media and the fans had too much say in picking the English team which probably has the most talented group of youngsters waiting in the wings for a long time. This is a group that with enough playing time could win England the world cup. My future England team is available upon request. LOL."

1524: Wigan manager Roberto Martinez believes he has found a "new player" in Hugo Rodallega.

1508: Following in the style of this morning's handover, it's "Back to the Woods" now, *cue your many groans* as it's me, Jack Woodfield, back in the TC seat for the day's remainder. Send your e-mails to jack.woodfield@bskyb.com

1459: Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas insists his club cannot be blamed for the chain of events which led to Fabio Capello's resignation as England manager.

1437: Tranmere manager Les Parry hopes the Prenton Park purse strings will allow him to bring in a new striker on loan.

1435: Rich writes: "Miha, don't buy into the whole 'players are jaded' nonsense. The Barcelona players played WAY more games and in each game covered way more ground and I believe they have won the last two tournaments."

1432: Rangers manager Ally McCoist has confirmed he is attempting to bring Daniel Cousin, who left in 2008, back to Ibrox.

1427: Teenage Newcastle midfielder Haris Vuckic is to join npower Championship side Cardiff on an initial one-month loan deal

1421: John Haste writes: "Do not agree with the 'Arry gang - would be ridiculous and driven by popular support. I will concede he is a decent enough club manager (as long as the cash is available for players) - but as an international ambassador, which would be part of the job - no way. It would only enhance the view on the continent that that as a country we are all a bit slow on the uptake. I personally would implore the FA to give Gus Hiddink a call asap and get him installed as manager with two assistants namely Stuart Pearce and Butch Wilkins. At least they have been there and done that as it were. And a note to the FA if you employ somebody on a full-time basis you never ever undermine them or interfere with any of their selections - specially when you are doing it from the comfort of your big soft chairs at HQ - and even more importantly you do not understand what goes on in the dressing rooms or at pitch level - so just let the managers and his choices get on with it."

1419: Right that's me for the day. Let's hope when I next return we have a new England manager and captain...unlikely. Anyway, I'll briefly pass you over to Reece now so send your emails to reece.killworth@bskyb.com

1414: Bristol Rovers have signed Leicester City defender Tom Parkes on a one-month loan contract with the League Two club.

1413: Greetings fromMiha in freezing Maribor. He writes: "Some folks might say the England job is 'the best in the world', but I would disagree - to me, it's more of an impossible job because no manager in the world is daft enough to think this squad can win the World Cup. There's lots of potential in that team though and someday someone will go there and repeat the feat from 1966, but if England wants to get to that level, first this team will need a lot of tweaking and an aura of togetherness. Also, the FA are going to be crucial in that process - no more tingling with the manager, let him do his job, support him through thick and thin, and most importantly, do something about that winter break (start the season sooner and end it in April) because the players are going to be jaded again, while other teams won't be. England has good ingredients but needs a great cook with a sensational cookbook just as much."

1411: Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has been ruled out for several weeks after tearing ankle ligaments in Wednesday night's 2-0 win over Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal.

1409: Finally, Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson has joined York on loan until the end of the season.

1407: In addition, Oxford have acquired striker Mehdi Kerrouche from League Two side Swindon on a one-month loan deal.

1405: Some done deals for you now. Yeovil Town have signed Reading teenager Lawson D'Ath on a one-month loan deal at Glover Park.

1358: Ali writes: "Guus Hiddink simples. The man has oddles of big tournament experience, is well liked by all, can handle the job pressure. Most importantly, he gets his teams playing attractive football. He may not be English. But he speaks better English than Harry Redknapp."

Hiddink would be my choice to take the national side to the Euros. He has a wealth of experience in major international tournaments, and knows the language/country.

1347: Matt writes: "Don't understand all the pressure on having an English manager. The last time we had this, Steve McClaren was appointed. I don't think I need to remind anyone how that went. Capello and Sven both did good jobs on the whole for England. While Redknapp is a lot better than McClaren, we should at least try for Mourinho or Hiddink as they are among the best."

1328: Jon H writes: "Glad to see Pearce in charge for the Holland game. Think it will be good experience for him. Like many, I fancy Redknapp to take full charge but Psycho is without doubt a future England manager in the making."

1317: Aston Villa have been unsuccessful in their attempt to extend Robbie Keane's loan period and he will return to the Los Angeles Galaxy after the clash at Wigan on February 25, Press Association Sport understands.

1308: Some quite significant news from Holland now as Ajax's entire board, including Johan Cruyff, will step down following the row over the appointment of Louis van Gaal as Chief Executive Officer.

1256: Direct your thoughts and reactions from the news conference to oliver.bell@bskyb.com

1254: Wolves defender George Elokobi has joined Nottingham Forest on an emergency loan and could stay at the City Ground until the end of the season.

1247: Fabio Capello has wished the England team "every success" in a brief statement following his resignation as manager.

1234: That's the end of the news conference. To sum up the key points, Stuart Pearce will take charge of Englands upcoming game against the Netherlands. The board will try to appoint a new manager as soon as possible and will be drawing up a shortlist tomorrow. David Bernstein said there is a preference for an English manager, but that it is no guarantee. He also offered Fabio Capello his thanks for his contribution to the national team, and said that talks between them ended amicably and with a handshake.

1228: Bernstein said the FA will listen to who the fans want to lead the national team but won't be "driven" by them.

1227: In terms of a code of conduct, Bevington highlighted the importance of establishing this with the new manager and the current players.

1226: He is looking for a new manager to inject more "confidence" to the side, especially when playing at home.

1225: Bernstein admits "it is not ideal" to be without a manager so close to a tournament.

1224: Bevington said any manager that is appointed will be able to hit the ground running due to the organisation of the national set up.

1223: He said an Englishman is a preference for the new manager, but that the FA ultimately want the best candidate for the job, so doesn't "rule out anything."

1222: Bernstein commends Stuart Pearce for his attitude in helping the FA.

1220: Alex Horne confirms there would be no reason not to accept Capello's resignition. Bernstein said the FA went into yesterday's meeting "with concerns but with open minds."

1219: Bernstein confirms the conflict of opinion between the board and Capello, and to a degree the Italian's poor English was problematic.

1218: Bernstein refuses to indicate Capello would have been sacked had he not resigned.

1216: "There was absolutely no ultimatum" preceeding Capello's resignation, according to Bernstein.

1215: He also stands by his decision to suspend Terry as captain.

1214: Bernstein said the FA accepted Capello's resignation because it was in the interest of all parties.

1213: Bernstein said the FA will begin drawing up their shortlist for a new manager tomorrow.

1213: He refuses to mention individuals but insists the FA will try to appoint a new manager as soon as they professionally can.

1212: Bernstein said despite having no manager, everything is in place for a successful Euro 2012 campaign.

1210: Adrian Bevington takes over to talk about the importance of youth in the England setup, to provide a long-term winning mentality. He said: "It is not the sole responsibility of the manager to deliver success" and indicates the example of Spain.

1208: Bernstein confirms Stuart Pearce will manage England for their upcoming friendly with Holland.

1207: Bernstein says he notified Capello about stripping John Terry of the captaincy before it was announced on Friday. Capello "was not happy but accepted the decision." Talks between them ended amicably and with a handshake.

1205: David Bernstein begins by thanking Fabio Capello for the job he did with England, and denies that their meeting yesterday ended in the Italian storming out.

1204: The FA news conference has just begun.

1157: Michael Grell writes: "Well I am glad the Press got their way and got rid of JT and now Fabio. Let’s hope they get their wish and get an English manager. They seem to think that all will be rosy in the garden if we go English. I would just like to inform them that prior to Fabio they got their wish and then they hounded him out and also the last English manager to win anything was, oh yea Steve McClaren. Then again would I be forward enough to say that the press have their own agenda and maybe Harry would get a chance with them. We went English up until Sven and we never won anything so why will it be different now. I am disgusted with the way the press have treated some but not others even Henry Winter who I respect although I have found Martin Samuel’s comments very fair handed."

1153: Nick writes: "If Redknapp’s to be permanent England manager then he should be appointed after the Euro’s because a bad tournament might not allow him much time to settle into the role before the red tops turn on him and it would also leave Spurs in a massive hole. That means an interim coach and the FA probably would not want a big name in for a short period so Pearce and Brooking combo might be the way they go. There is however and English manager with Euro & World cup experience, even taking their team to the final but I’m guessing no one in the FA would have big enough balls to even consider Hope Powell as a possibility."

1149: Former Scotland boss Craig Brown believes Harry Redknapp could manage England on a part-time basis - but only until this summer's European Championships. More on that to follow.

1142: Ivan says what we are all thinking. He writes: "I have every faith in the FA to appoint the right manager, the peoples choice, the man who would relish the opportunity, step forward Roy Hodgson (Nooooooooooo)!!"

Certainly better than Phil Brown, a name I've heard banging around. It seems if you're English, you're on the shortlist at the moment, regardless of credentials!

1139: Phil Williams writes: "When ‘Arry says ‘e ‘asn’t thought about the England job, are we to understand that ‘e means it in the same way as ‘e didn’t think about a bank account called Rosie?"

1133: A bit unrelated but former Liverpool captain Tommy Smith is selling all the medals and memorabilia from his highly-decorated career at Anfield. A fantastic opportunity for anyone with around £120,000 readily available...

1126: Sky Sports understands Brighton are set to win the battle to land Manchester City starlet Abdul Razak on loan.

1123: Even the Prime Minister has had his say on the national side. David Cameron said it's a shame that Capello has gone but England have an opportunity to move forward positively with a new manager and captain. When asked about Capello's replacement, he said: "The day a Prime Minister chooses an England manager will be a bad day for football!"

1121: Hoffenheim have sacked coach Holger Stanislawski in the wake of their elimination from the DFB-Pokal.

1113: Stay with the TC for a live report on the FA news conference coming up at midday. In the meantime, keep sending your thoughts and predictions on the immediate future of the England team to oliver.bell@bskyb.com

1108: Juventus coach Antonio Conte believes Fabio Capello's resignation as manager will prove to be a "grave loss" for England.

1106: Here's the latest from Harry Redknapp.

1103: Harry Redknapp is now 1/4 to be the next England manager and Jose Mourinho is 7/2 (from 4s) to replace Redknapp at the Lane (irrespective of the timescale) as the next permanent Spurs manager with BetVictor.

1101: Owen Coyle is the latest Premier League manager to have his say on Fabio Capello's successor: "Harry Redknapp ticks every box, and he also has fantastic football knowledge. When you put that all together, there is no doubt he is a complete package. The difficulty with that is that he has done such a fantastic job with Tottenham Hotspur. I have no doubt - for me, he would be the perfect choice, but I think Tottenham might have something to say about that."

1100: Leyton Orient manager Russell Slade has not ruled out another loan swoop for midfielder Lee Cook.

1056: Harry Redknapp has just said that he has not thought about the England job and that he is focused on his role with Tottenham.

1045: Moving inevitably back to the subject of the national team, Wigan boss Roberto Martinez believes Fabio Capello was undermined by the Football Association in the events which led to his resignation as England manager.

1033: Diverting away from the England manager debate for a moment to confirm that Dundee United have signed Polish goalkeeper Radoslav Cierzniak on a pre-contract.

1027: Rich Lynn writes: "Totally correct John - it's the obvious problem. My boy is 8 and he has been playing competitive football for 3 years now. It's madness. How on earth can you expect English players to have an amazing first touch and awareness of the game when all they are taught from such an early age is to run, tackle and win. They should be taught the basics and shouldn't play any competitive matches until at least 12 and then no contact until about 14. With the pitches now being like snooker tables the emphasis has to be on touch and pass. Hence why Spain have now come to the forefront of world football. Of course, nothing will change as your average parent watching the games on a Sunday morning is utterly clueless. Also doesn't help with the likes of Spain and Germany having 35,000 registered qualified coaches and England about 4,000 but again, can't see it changing despite the huge amount of money in the game. As for Psycho - he will surely be the No. 2. Will be ideal for that. Someone to go mental and remind the players of national pride in the dressing room at half-time :)"

1024: Sportinglife football supremo Reece Killworth has welcomed the news I'm not in for the England job. He said: "Olly has made a real impact in his short career at Sportinglife and we are very keen to keep him so his declaration of commitment is very welcome. That said, if the FA want him, I will happily provide my, sorry, our bank details for due compensation."

1021: Noel Madden writes: "Hi Oliver. As a Spurs fan I will be sorry to see our best manager in 50 years leave to take the England job. Being Irish there are no positives in it for me. Since Harry will have very little time to throw his magic arm around those heavily chipped shoulders, how about this for Harry's first 11 against France?? Hart, Walker, King, Dawson, Cole, Lennon, Huddlestone, Parker, Gerrard, Crouch, Defoe."

Well that line-up doesn't put your faith in Spurs under question Noel...

1016: Rich Lynn writes: "I see Pardew has ruled himself out - that's up there with Phil Williams!" Both are certainly huge blows to the FA's search for a new man!

1011: Well, with Pardew ruling himself out, I suppose I better make it clear that I also won't be taking the England job. It would be an attractive offer, but I think I should wait until I have learned more about the game...Sorry.

1008: Here's the quotes from Pardew ruling himself out of the England job.

1005: John Parry writes: "Let's face it Capello has gone, was it all his fault we did nothing in the World Cup? No. The problem with English football starts at ground level, and unless that is addressed and youth development promoted, nothing is going to change. Too many England players are guaranteed football in the Epl, and on the international stage, however I wouldn’t mind seeing what 'arry can do even if only for the Championships, but another choice which I haven’t seen people mention is Psycho!!! Surely he would be able to motivate the bunch of underachievers!!!"

1002: Alan Pardew has joined Martin O'Neill in ruling himself out of contention to replace Capello.

0951: The emails are flying in this morning! Rich Lynn provides his much awaited analysis. He writes: "Capello should really have gone two years ago...And whoever should have taken over and rebuilt with youth. Re the posts so far today … Mickey - Rafa Benitez - I assume that's a wind up. Patrick - can't really compare the Germany and England jobs money wise. There is so much more money in English football it's ridiculous. You can watch football in Germany for peanuts. Therefore those involved wages are going to mirror that.

Our pampered footballers don't need a great deal of coaching. What they need is someone to get the best out of them. Not a Sergeant Major locking them away from the world. Fairly obvious who that is. As for Spurs Paul, the move will split the terraces. Despite the fantastic job (in my opinion) he has done there are a lot of fans that can't wait to see him go. I personally like him - he's an entertainer - but I'll reserve final judgement until I see who comes in. Assume Levy already drafted his compensation letter!!"

0945: Breaking England manager news, Phil Williams has ruled himself out of the running. He writes: "Just to set the record straight from the very beginning, I have to state categorically that I am NOT available to take the England manager’s job. Sorry, and all that; but I had more trouble than usual this year filling in my tax return so I’m not going to take any more jobs on for now. OK?"

0932: Ryan Bridgett writes: "I love everyone saying Capello was rubbish. Probably the same people waxing lyrical when we blitzed WC Qualification. Ultimately I think he became disillusioned after the World Cup and this is a nice excuse for him to back down with his dignity in tact after backing his principals (a principal I don't agree with but fair play).

Anyway, here's hoping the press behave themselves in the lead-up to the Euros (I know, I know) and the new manager effect helps us have a good tournament. Redknapp's my first choice, wouldn't mind seeing Pearce get it, or even Mourinho, although I still think he's holding out for the United job. Plus everyone leaves the England job with a tarnished reputation, as I'm sure he'll be aware.!"

Yes, although the England job represents a huge risk in terms of managerial reputation, the prospect of coming in and being the man to do it right is what attracts some of the world's biggest names (and egos) in management. This is what tempted Capello to take on the challenge, and also why I feel Mourinho would also be interested. It is probably too soon for him to leave Madrid however, and I don't think there is much doubt that Redknapp will get the job.

0921: Paul Cressy writes: "How boring this all is, who cares that Capello has resigned? Who really cares if Redknapp gets the job? Whoever takes it is going to have their work cut out. There are two/three good players in the England setup, the rest are average. Whoever gets the job will have to transform that lot into world beaters....Good Luck. As for Magician Harry, I can not imagine Rich and Co would be happy to lose him to a job that could destroy his own very good managing reputation in 6 months!!!"

0918: Rio Ferdinand is the latest England player to have his view on Capello's replacement. He tweeted: "I think we need an English manager now, we don't need anything else lost in translation....Harry Redknapp would be my choice by a distance."

0914: Ralph writes: "Reece, I take your point on the FA talking to Capello as I don't think they would have left him out. However, if he disagreed and they decided the captaincy had to be taken away from Terry, then he either kept his comments to himself and went along with the decision or he gets sacked or he quits. He just cannot stay if he thinks that he can be a one man show. That is just going to create anarchy (maybe too strong a word but you get my drift). So I think it must have come to a mutual understanding that he walk away simply because he went public with his disenchantment." That's my point. I think they will have told him their thinking then made the decision but from there it's then down to him if he can live with it. RK

0910: Can't believe it's coming to this. I'm stealing Hexty's gags. I've been 'Saved by the Bell' so I'll leave you in the capable hands of Olly Bell. Emails to oliver.bell@bskyb.com.

0908: Victor Obire writes: "Now the stage is set again for another round of drama. What difference does it really make now that Fabio Capello has taken a walk? Never in the history of modern day football has England failed to amuse us by pressing the self-destruct button each time a major competition beckons. Which perhaps explain why England have under-performed in major competitions. Whichever way you look at it, the story has always been the same. It is either the FA is busy pulling down the house for some inexplicable reason, the manager being accused of lacking ideas or a busy-body player somewhere in town is seen to be causing some form of distraction, capable of undermining the unity in the team. For me, I see all of these as cheap publicity stunts that typifies a nation that promises more but offers very little in return when the chips are down. It does seem to me that England is more interested in exploding the gun-powder keg whenever a major championship draws nearer, a more suitable way to prepare and apportion blames in advance and cause unnecessary media blitz thereafter for the team's apparent shortcomings. Now that Capello is gone, who does England turn to to perform a rescue mission? Only time will tell."

0906: Patrick Langdon writes: "Capello's resignation leaves me shedding no tears. Should never have been given the job in the first place. How can someone with poor English explain himself adequately? Can you imagine Germany not having a German native or German-speaking coach? And perhaps the frankly ludicrous salary of £6million a year can be trimmed to something more "reasonable"?. I believe Low gets about £2million a year for coaching Germany and their success in major competitions really puts ours in perspective!"

0849: Hope Ken Livermore is sitting down as I know he's a huge fan of this particular performer. Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Xherdan Shaqiri from Basle with the Swiss midfielder to join the club from the start of next season.

0835: Mickey writes: "So Harry is the favourite for the England job. Is Harry any good without Joe Jordan and Kevin Bond beside him? Does Scottish Joe really want to be a coach for England? Will Daniel Levy let all three of them go and leave Spurs in disarray? Personally I think Rafa Benitez would be an ideal temp manager till the end of the Euros as he has a great track record in European competitions. Would Rafa take a temp job? All these questions need to have serious thought and not just go with people's hearts saying Harry is the man. Can't help thinking all this could of been avoided if JT when stripped of his captaincy, remained stripped and it was given to Gerrard permanently." I'm not convinced. Gerrard's injury record of late hasn't been great - and if you came to an international game with him injured there'd be loads of speculation about who should get it. We need some consistency and long-term thinking. RK

0742: J writes: "You know what, fair play to Capello, he at least stuck by his comments and was willing to walk away rather than being undermined. You would think that if you're taing the captaincy away from someone, that person's manager would be in on the discussion, not just told. Nice to see Rooney opening his gob so early, "Gutted to see him go" but not respectful enough to keep his opinions to himself with regards to who jumps into his 'mate' Capello's still warm slippers. As Roy Keane said last night, maybe he should have tried harder for Capello when he was still in charge!" For me, that last line is a totally bogus argument - he's resigned over the captaincy pure and simple and how hard ANY player tried wouldn't have made a jot of difference. As for the main points - maybe Bernstein broached the subject with him, it was clear he wouldn't approve but the FA board had the discussion anyway? We may know more later. I do agree, though, about the 'fair play to Capello' angle! RK

0740: Bill Davies is first off the mark this morning. He writes: "We need to go back to having a England-born manager. Harry can do both jobs for sure as the England football season will be almost done and dusted, we don't want another foreign import, we will stand and fall on what we are, playing the England way. Harry has the credentials, give him the job if he wants it."

0714: Don't think anyone can say they've been unimpressed with the work he's done so it's got to be good news for Swansea fans that manager Brendan Rodgers has signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract and set his objective as keeping the Welsh club in the Barclays Premier League for its duration.

0710: Thanks to Hexty for getting us under way but as I collect the hat-trick ball it's me Reece Killworth here in the chair now. Emails to reece.killworth@bskyb.com. Not sure we'll find much to chat about today but do your best...

0705: Harry Redknapp has plenty of fans and Martin O'Neill is one of them.

0650: Here is Paper Talk England Special. It has all the speculation after Capello's departure.

0641: A story away from the Capello fall-out worth a read is the latest from football's 'Money League'.

0610: Here it is. The story that confirms Fabio Capello is a former England boss. Check the Transfer Wire for all the reaction.

0605: A new day is here and England don't have a manager or a captain. Fabio Capello has gone but who will be the new king - probably 'Arry. Reece Killworth is in charge from 0700 GMT so get the e-mails sent to reece.killworth@bskyb.com.
