St Mirren defender Jack Ross is all too aware of how Clydesdale Bank Premier League bottom side Falkirk are feeling at the moment having experienced the situation with both clubs.

The former Bairns right-back returns to the Falkirk stadium to find his former team-mates still searching for the their first SPL win of the season and propping up the table with just three points from three draws.

However, Ross, 33, said that first-hand knowledge of looking up at the rest of the league means he will tread warily.

"It doesn't make it an easier fixture for St Mirren," he said.

"Being at the bottom makes you desperate for the first win and the desire will be there to put it right and we know how difficult this game will be.

"I had spells at Falkirk and at St Mirren where we have been rock bottom of the league and you feel an edge and desire at training because you don't like being there.

"They know if they can win on Saturday they can put it right and start climbing the league and they will be desperate.

"I watched Falkirk playing Aberdeen and they were unfortunate to draw 0-0 on the night and that has been the case the other couple of times, they have drawn when they could have turned them into wins.

"We had the same frustrations last year, we felt as if we performed well and didn't quite get the results.

"I would love easy games because it would make our jobs a whole lot easier but unfortunately there isn't and Saturday will be no exception."

Ross continued: "We had a good record last season against them, we managed to win twice at their place.

"In December we were bottom when we managed a victory which gave us a lift.

"We are going to Falkirk confident after winning in the league at our new ground for the first time against Hearts.

"We had to put it to bed and doing it against a good side like Hearts was important as well, and the three points took us up the league.

"So there were a whole lot of pluses in the victory and it is time to build upon it."

St Mirren will again be without Michael Higdon, Mo Camara and Steven Robb for the trip to Falkirk.

Higdon picked up a knee injury in the latter stages of the game against Celtic almost three weeks ago but is expected to start training again next week.

Camara has undergone knee surgery while Robb remains out with a groin injury.
