St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson believes Saturday's trip to Falkirk is a "dangerous game" for his side as the Bairns search for their first Clydesdale Bank Premier League win of the season.

Eddie May has endured a difficult time since taking over from John Hughes in the summer and his revamped Falkirk team have only been able to carve out three draws this season, leaving them propping up the SPL after seven games.

MacPherson watched his team end their own hoodoo almost a fortnight ago when they won their first SPL game at St Mirren Park since moving to their new ground in January, with a 2-1 win over Hearts.

With that in mind, MacPherson will take nothing for granted when he makes the trip to the Falkirk Stadium.

"Falkirk not having won an SPL game this season just means that it is a very dangerous game for us," he said.

"For me they are in a false position.

"I've personally seen Falkirk on three occasions this season and they have played well, with two wide attacking players and passing the ball.

"Even when they got beat 4-0 at home by Celtic in the Co-operative Insurance Cup, they played well and it was an even game at 1-0.

"But it is all about getting results and even Eddie would be honest enough to admit that performances really don't count for too much.

"It's about getting results."

MacPherson had tried to play down his side's home record in the SPL as pressure mounted in recent months but admitted the victory had come as a relief.

He said: "It was vital to get the three points.

"We couldn't keep saying we had beaten SPL opposition in the cup, as we had done, we had to win a league game at home.

"But I felt we deserved to win the game."
