Hamilton have became the latest Clydesdale Bank Premier League club to defy the Old Firm's levy on ticket distribution by announcing they will sell them directly to supporters.

Celtic and Rangers introduced a 5 per cent administration charge at the start of last season for distributing tickets for SPL away games to their own fans.

The move angered a number of their rivals, though some clubs reluctantly consented.

But Hamilton have had enough of the charge, saying in a statement on their official website: "Accies have become the latest club to announce that they will no longer give tickets for our home matches v Celtic and Rangers to those clubs to sell, and that all ticket sales will be done through ourselves.

"The club will be complying with the SPL rules on that and will follow a similar line to that done by fellow clubs Falkirk and St Mirren.

"Secretary Scott Struthers indicated that the matter had been considered and discussed internally at the club with George Paterson, chief executive, Tom Purdie, security officer, and Jim McQuade, stadium manager, and the club were quite content in how they wished to proceed and progress the matter."

Rangers and Celtic claim the charge helps offset the cost of administering to their large numbers of travelling supporters, while the Scottish Premier League will not intervene in the issue, claiming it is a matter for the clubs.

Meanwhile, Hamilton have confirmed reserve goalkeeper Gary Gow suffered a broken elbow in yesterday's behind-closed-doors friendly with Rangers.

Gow, who was on the bench in the last two matches against Dundee United and Celtic, had only recently recovered from a broken wrist.
