Motherwell boss Mark McGhee admits he is unlikely to have any new players in his squad for Saturday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League opener against Hearts.
McGhee has yet to make a signing this summer and goes into the season with just 13 fit players who have started more than one first-team game.
Motherwell are still awaiting an outcome from their bid for winger Jim O'Brien, who has been training with the Fir Park club since his Celtic contract expired. The 20-year-old would command a fee given his age.
McGhee is not worried about the situation ahead of the Tynecastle encounter as he knows he can start with 11 players who guided the club to third place in the SPL last season.
But he is eager to reinforce his squad before the end of August, with 'Well's UEFA Cup campaign beginning on September 18.
"We are quite happy - we have got a team for Saturday," McGhee said.
"It's only in the longer term that we have concerns."
McGhee has passed up on the chance to sign Gambia defender Seyfo Soley, who played the second half of a 4-0 friendly win over Bradford.
But he is pursuing an interest in Togo international Souleymane Mamam, a former Royal Antwerp midfielder.
"He is still here," McGhee said. "We like him but we have not made our mind up about a deal."
