Livingston full-back David McNamee has admitted the Lions face a massive task to bounce straight back to the top flight - but he may not be at the club to aid them.
Livi's five-year stay in the Premier League came to an end on Saturday after a lacklustre 1-0 home defeat to Inverness.
It was a performance typical of Livingston's season - plenty of effort but a distinct lack of ability.
Almondvale manager John Robertson now faces a huge rebuilding job to mould a squad to challenge for the Division One title.
A number of players face contracts talks in West Lothian in the coming days with McNamee unsure where he will be playing next term.
The 25-year-old Scotland cap has a clause in his contract where renegotiations commence if the club are
relegated - and he will now enter into new talks to assess his future.
Glasgow-born McNamee said: "I'm in a position along with a good few of the lads.
"We've got it in our contracts where if the club go down there are renegotiations.
"I'll just need to wait and see what happens in the next few weeks."
On the prospect of Division One football, he added: "When I first started playing at St Mirren I was in the First Division and it's not an easy place to go and get yourself out of.
"There are a lot of clubs there looking to get promotion and then you've got Gretna coming up with money being thrown around there. They'll be pushing with a few other teams and it's not going to be easy.
"It's come down to a full season for us, not just defeats like against Inverness.
"Even if we'd just been a little more consistent, we wouldn't be in the position we are."
After missing the first half of the season with an Achilles injury, McNamee admits he won't be sad to see the campaign end after a home clash with Motherwell in midweek and then a trip to Falkirk on Saturday.
The former Blackburn player has made just 14 appearances this term and said: "I was out for eight to nine months and I managed to get 20 minutes in the reserves before coming back in at the turn of the year.
"In fairness, what I need is a pre-season to get myself fully fit and fully going - I haven't had that. It's one of these seasons I won't be sorry to see the end of."
