Furious Livingston manager John Robertson blasted his players for surrendering their Bank of Scotland Premier League status without a fight in the single-goal defeat by Inverness.
Caley midfielder Barry Wilson scored the only goal of the game at Almondvale with a 56th-minute free-kick to condemn his former club to the Bell's First Division next season.
But the Livi boss insists up to half-a-dozen players have ensured they will not be involved in the fight for an immediate return to the top flight after a poor display against Inverness.
Robertson said: "We have tried our hardest to stave it off, but today's performances - especially in the second half - are the reason why we are down.
"I can hear the fans' frustrations and complaints and they are right.
"We practice set-plays, free-kicks and passing, but and you wouldn't have thought that today - you'd have thought they had had the whole week off and been doing nothing.
"I just couldn't wait for that final whistle to go.
"What has happened today is that there are five or six boys, who have ruled themselves out of a contract.
"We owed it to our fans, at least, to put on a performance but I'm not accepting that. That was rubbish.
"It was absolutely disgraceful they can put a performance like that on at this stage in the season when fans are still paying good money.
"I am not accepting that standard. If that is what they're going to serve up, then they won't be here next season.
"That team out there did not have the quality to stay in the Premier League and it won't have the quality to win the First Division.
"The budget cuts are fairly substantial, but that is between the club and myself. You are told what you have and get on with it."
Inverness secured seventh spot in the SPL on the back of the victory to the delight of head coach Charlie Christie.
But the Caley boss was simply pleased to end a poor run at Almondvale this season.
Christie said: "It was our fourth visit here this season and we hadn't won the previous three.
"But, defensively, we were sound and have had three clean-sheets in a row - the first time we've done that since coming into the SPL, which is tremendous.
"Livi did not look likely to score and I'm delighted to come away with the win.
"We have confirmed seventh spot, which is progress for us, and the top six is something to aim for next year. Every supporter should be delighted at our season."
