James Grady netted a last-minute penalty to earn Partick a draw with Kilmarnock in a game of three spot-kicks in the Bank of Scotland Premier League.

Kris Boyd saw the first saved, only to score on the rebound, and Grady soon did the same at the other end.

Craig Dargo then came off the bench at half-time to put Killie ahead but it was the substitute who fatefully conceded the game's final spot-kick.

Earlier, a minute's silence in memory of the nine people who had died earlier in the week in the Stockline factory disaster - next to the club's training pitch - had been perfectly observed.

The first chance fell to Thistle's Andy Ross just outside the box but he could not make proper contact and Smith, making his second start for Killie, was not troubled.

Killie replied with a sixth-minute penalty conceded by Adrian Madaschi's tackle on Boyd.

Boyd had survived an offside appeal as he chased Danny Invincibile's pass and took the spot-kick himself.

Pinkowski guessed correctly to make a fine block diving to his left - but the rebound went straight to Boyd, who made no mistake.

Referee Stuart Dougal's decision had not pleased Thistle player-boss Gerry Britton, who received a lecture from the official in the dugout.

There were sarcastic cheers from the home fans when Boyd was caught offside in roughly the same position to where he won the penalty.

At the other end, Billy Gibson fired in a cross from the right but there were no takers and Killie were able to clear their lines without breaking sweat.

In the 18th minute Thistle were awarded a penalty when Garry Hay brought down Jamie Mitchell having seconds earlier survived a strong spot-kick shout for a challenge on Grady.

Grady took the spot-kick and saw Smith block it with a dive to his right. But just as Boyd had at the other end, the striker was able to lash the rebound home for an equaliser - his 17th goal of the season.

Boyd planted a header in the path of the onrushing Gary McDonlad but the midfielder's touch was too heavy and Pinkowski was able to come off his line and get to the loose ball first.

Andy Gibson won a corner at the other end and Smith had to punch away Derek Fleming's delivery into the six-yard box.

Smith then had to dive at Andy Ross' feet after Freddie Dindeleux could only half block a ball into the box.

Pinkowski made an important save in the 31st minute when Boyd got a touch to a high ball into the box to divert the ball goalwards from close range.

It needed quick reactions and the rookie was able to paw the ball away just before it sneaked over.

It was a period of the game when both sides were exchanging shots, with Ross firing over and Strachan forcing a save out of Smith from a long-ranger either side of a well-struck effort from Mark Canning from more than 25 yards out that whistled past Pinkowski's right-hand post.

Madaschi and Pinkowski got in a muddle to allow Boyd to steal in between them and were fortunate that the ball bounced off the Killie man to trickle behind.

James Fowler set up Colin Nish for a low drive from the edge of the box that Pinkowski fumbled but then gathered before anyone could get to the loose ball.

Madaschi headed behind at the far post from a Mitchell cross but Killie were beginning to dominate as the game neared the hour mark.

McDonald might have done better in the 57th minute when Stevey Murray floated over a cross from the left but the midfielder came steaming in to meet at the back post.

His header from six yards had power but not accuracy and thumped into the advertising boardings not the back of the net.

In 58th minute Killie sent on Dargo for Nish.

After 65 minutes, Killie made a change with Gary Locke replacing Canning.

David Rowson fired high and wide after being set up for a shot at goal by Strachan from 25 yards out.

McDonald was even further away from the target at the other end with a mishit shot.

Pinkowski then denied Hay, who headed a Madaschi clearance goalwards.

A goal was coming though and Dargo netted it in the 68th minute when a Boyd cross found him at the back post and he converted despite Pinkowski's best efforts to stop him.

Pinkowski pulled off another fine save this time to deny Dargo following a strong run into the box by Invincibile.

Madaschi was booked for a trip on McDonald in the 86th minute and Pinkowski pulled off yet another save to deny Hay from the free-kick move.

In the final minute Thistle were awarded their second penalty when Dargo brought down Mitchell and this time Grady made no mistake to earn his side a point.
