Gavin Skelton is desperate for his first goal in more than 14 months against Aberdeen to help Kilmarnock to their second Clydesdale Bank Premier League win of the season.
Skelton, 28, marked his first start for Killie against Dundee United on August 30, 2008, with the opening goal in a 2-0 win at Tannadice.
The former Gretna midfielder, however, has not seen his name on the scoresheet since and is looking for that to change against the Dons.
"It's definitely time I got a goal, I am desperate," Skelton said.
"I maybe be playing in a deeper role these days but that is no excuse.
"I would be lying if I said it was keeping me awake at night but I have scored only one, in my first start, and that was a header.
"The disappointing thing is I haven't really had that many chances or shots.
"I have to start reading when is a good time to get in a position to score.
"I can't remember when I last came close to scoring in a game - I can't even remember when I came close to scoring in training."
After goalless draws in their last two matches against Rangers and Falkirk, the Rugby Park side are in eighth place in the table with five points but only two ahead of bottom side St Johnstone.
Skelton insists something as apparently unremarkable as two successive victories can radically alter a side's position in the table.
"If you can win two games in a row then it can make a big difference," the Englishman said.
"You wouldn't think so because it doesn't seem a lot but it is massive.
"Every team will say that but that's what we are looking to do and we just need a break.
"Although there has been frustration that we haven't picked up more points, I don't think we have been particularly bad.
"Our form has been patchy, even within the same game, but it's about points and hopefully we can start scraping one-nil wins and once you get a couple of results, then I'm sure the performances will improve further."
