Inverness' Irish striker Richie Foran is desperate to see the Clydesdale Bank Premier League relegation issue resolved so he can extend his stay in his adopted Scotland.

Foran's contract with Caley Thistle runs out in the summer after he joined on a six-month deal in January, and he is keen to remain in the Highlands.

Foran has been an ever-present since arriving from Southend in the transfer window and wants to continue working under Terry Butcher.

"I'm not sure of my future yet, the gaffer hasn't spoken to us and I think he has to find out if we're safe before he can go handing out contracts," Foran said.

"The main thing is keeping everyone in the right frame of mind - once we get safe we'll get our futures sorted.

"I love it here in Scotland and hopefully I'll finish my career here. I enjoy Inverness, the people and the atmosphere around the town but we'll look at that when we get safe.

"When I retire from football, I'd probably move back to Ireland but I'd be happy to see out my career in Scotland. I like Scottish folk, the football here seams to suit me and I like playing under Terry Butcher."

Inverness started their post-split campaign with an excellent win at St Mirren and can take another massive step towards survival with a first league win of the season over Hamilton.

Foran revealed spirits are extremely high in the camp, even though the players are guilty of some tough tackling in training.

He said: "There is a bit of truth in the story about us kicking lumps out of each other in training because there is some bite in our sessions, which is the way it should be. The gaffer loves it and some of the players do as well.

"The mood is excellent. Last week was a big win for us and, with Falkirk winning as well, made it that bit more important.

"The confidence is high here but we haven't done anything yet and if we remain focused then we can get something against Hamilton this weekend.

"We have to make sure we don't get too carried away and the manager will make sure of that.

"Yes, it was an great three points and one of the best performances in my time at the club but we have to keep the feet on the ground and not get too carried away."

Inverness were lucky to grab a draw when they met Hamilton last month, and former Motherwell man Foran believes they have learned their lessons.

"They're our bogey side this season because we've not beaten them," he said.

"I think it's going to be a real tough game and they've got some really good individual players. However, I think with the team spirit and manager we have, we should come out on top.

"They were a bit cleverer than us in our last game with them.

"They scored an early goal, got 11 men behind the ball and then played for set pieces. But fair play to them and we should take a leaf out of their book."
