The Tennent's Scottish Cup semi-final between Hibernian and Dunfermline ended in stalemate, meaning Celtic will have to wait a while longer to find out who they will face at Hampden next month.

There were plenty of chances at both ends but neither side could find the back of the net on a sun-drenched day in Glasgow and the tie will be decided by a replay on Tuesday, April 24.

Both clubs have their problems.

In the Hibs camp, boss John Collins spent this week dealing with the fall-out from a player revolt.

He returned from a football trip to France last weekend to discover several of his first-team players had complained to chairman Rod Petrie about his training methods and team selection.

The disharmony at Easter Road would have come as a shock to Hibs fans, who celebrated their first silverware in 16 years last month, when Collins led Hibs to CIS Insurance Cup glory.

And the supporters made it clear they were still fully behind their manager when they chanted "There's only one John Collins" ahead of the clash at Hampden.

In their last outing, Hibs suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to a Dunfermline side whose top priority is still SPL survival this season, despite their impressive run in the cup.

Collins made just one change from the side who lost at East End Park, Ivan Sproule replacing Ross Chisholm, who was named on the bench.

Dunfermline manager Stephen Kenny made two changes.

Scott Wilson was back from injury and was drafted into the top team, along with Adam Hammill, while Tam McManus was cup-tied and Scott Morrison was missing from the 18-man squad.

The first chance of the game fell to Hibs when David Murphy's corner was met by the head of Chris Hogg a few yards out but he nodded just wide of target.

Steven Whittaker then delivered a long ball into the box, which cut through the Dunfermline defence and was begging to be helped into the back of the net.

But Steven Fletcher just failed to connect in front of goal and the opportunity was gone.

At the other end, Dunfermline almost snatched a shock lead when Jamie McCunnie's effort cracked off the post before goalkeeper Andrew McNeil blocked the follow up shot from Jim O'Brien.

Undeterred, Hibs raced up the park and only the quick reflexes of goalkeeper Dorus de Vries prevented a thunderous effort from Scott Brown hitting the back of the net.

But, as Hibs fans became restless, Dunfermline grew in confidence.

McNeil was called into action to tip a dipping 20-yard volley from Phil McGuire over the crossbar.

And Jim McIntyre was not too far away when he met Hammill's cross only to send his header glancing narrowly wide of the upright.

McNeil was injured in a collision with McIntyre shortly before the break and was replaced at half-time by substitute goalkeeper Simon Brown.

Dunfermline also took advantage of the interval to make a change, Greg Ross taking the place of McGuire.

Hibs should have been ahead shortly after the restart.

Scott Brown took the ball to the by-line before cutting back to Fletcher in front of goal. He should have burst the net but swung wildly at the ball and the shot cannoned off a group of black jerseys.

Dunfermline then provided a timely reminder that they were far from out of this tie when Hammill set up Gary Mason for a shot that he hooked just over the crossbar.

Tempers flared and Greg Shields was joined in the referee's book by Scott Wilson for a nasty challenge on Fletcher, the yellow card ruling him out of the next tie.

Once the game was under way again, Hibs were desperately unlucky not to snatch the goal that would see them through to the final when Abdessalam Benjelloun's volley was nodded off the line by Soulemayne Bamba.

Benjelloun then went to ground in the box under pressure from Bamba but pleas for a penalty were ignored by referee Craig Thomson and the tie remained deadlocked at the final whistle.
