Dunfermline booked a Scottish Cup quarter-final date with Rangers after a two goals in the second half saw off Hibernian at Easter Road.
The hapless home side passed up on several good chances to grab the breakthrough before Stevie Crawford drilled a low shot into the corner just before the hour.
Scott Wilson's strike with 11 minutes to go merely rubbed salt into the wounds of the dishevelled Edinburgh side.
The Fifers, without playing brilliantly, are now unbeaten in five games against Hibs this season and can look forward to a home tie against holders Rangers in the last eight.
Hibs, on the other hand, have now gone seven games without a win and were booed off the pitch at the end by their disgruntled fans.
The first half produced little in terms of attractive football, but it was the home side who had the best chances.
They should have taken the lead after only six minutes after a shocking mistake by Dunfermline midfielder Mark McGarty.
The youngster inexplicably hesitated to let a harmless looking punt run through to Ian Murray, but the Hibs midfielder shot back across goal from no more than 10 yards out when it seemed easier to score.
At the other end, Dunfermline striker Crawford flashed an angled shot from the left just a yard past Nick Colgan's post.
In the 21st minute, Hibs midfielder Derek Townsley was only inches away from getting his head to a Craig James free-kick.
But Dunfermline gradually began to knock the ball around and Ged Brannan's early free-kick which sent Gary Mason free on the left might have resulted in the opening goal if the Pars midfielder had been more accurate with his shot
which flew disappointingly wide.
As the first half drew to a close both sides became increasingly sloppy, but it was Hibs who had yet another chance to grab the breakthrough.
In the 35th minute, the tireless Murray slipped Thomas McManus through on goal and the Hibs striker's toe-poke past Fifers keeper Derek Stillie was rolling into the corner of the net until Dunfermline's Wilson got back to clear off the line.
After the break, Hibs came out determined to get that elusive victory over their opponents, but the game soon resorted back to routine drudgery.
On 50 minutes, a poor penalty-box clearance from Wilson landed at Gary O'Connor 16 yards from goal, but the Hibs striker's tame volley was easily saved by Stillie.
Five minutes later, McManus had another good chance only six yards from goal, but when Murray's cross came over from the left, the Scotland under-21 player headed weakly wide.
The home fans frustration turned to misery in the 57th minute when Dunfermline ran up the pitch and took the lead.
French midfielder David Grondin swung a cross into the box and Crawford took a touch to kill the ball before firing a low drive past Colgan and into the corner of the net.
Hibs almost equalised within a minute of going behind, but Townsley's goal-bound shot was blocked by Pars defender Andrius Skerla.
It was looking that sort of night for Bobby Williamson's men.
As the second half wore on the home fans' frustration turned to jeering as the Easter Road men toiled to get rescue their cup hopes.
In a 79th minute, Dunfermline made it 2-0 and sealed their place in the quarter-finals.
Substitute Noel Hunt, on earlier for Craig Brewster, bravely challenged Hibs keeper Colgan and when the ball broke free, Pars defender Wilson drilled in a shot from 16 yards.
