Hearts suffered a 2-0 defeat to German second division side St Pauli in the Millerntor Stadion in Hamburg on Friday night.

Michael Stewart and Ruben Palazuelos both went close before Marian Kello conceded a 28th-minute penalty when he fouled Max Kruse, Florian Bruns converting the spot-kick.

Hearts went close to getting the equaliser on several occasions in the second half before a late breakaway by the home side ended with Matthias Lehmann heading in.
