Dunfermline defender Souleymane Bamba admits Saturday's Tennent's Scottish Cup final against Celtic is likely be his final match for the Pars - even though he is reluctant to leave.

The 22-year-old former Paris St Germain reserve claims the relegation of boss Stephen Kenny's side to the First Division should be the cue for his exit.

Bamba would be keen to join two of his fellow Ivory Coast players, Chelsea's Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou, in the Barclays Premier League.

But he is already full of regret about the probability of his departure after just one season at East End Park.

Bamba is quoted in the Daily Record as saying:

"I had a talk last Thursday with the manager and I told him that I didn't know what to do.

"I'm captain of the Ivory Coast second team and I should leave for the sake of my progress".

"But I'm happy here. Life is good and my family like it here.

"We're going to the [First Division] but at the same time we're going to be playing in the UEFA Cup.

"I'm thinking about it but the best solution would definitely be to leave.

"My aim is to stay in Britain. Plenty of people tell me that I can progress in England and in the national team."

Having seen Drogba and Kalou shine for Chelsea, Bamba believes he too could become an established player in England.

He added: "My aim is to work to achieve the same standard as them and play for a great club as they do."
