Dundee United slipped to the foot of the Premier League as they crashed to a
3-0 defeat at Livingston.
Juanjo Camacho opened the scoring for Livi in only the eighth minute.
Six minutes into the second period, Trinidadian international Marvin Andrews
headed home the second.
But City Stadium striker David Bingham saved the best for last with a sublime
chip four minutes from the end to send the Tangerines crashing to their seventh
game without a win.
But United were running up a hill backwards from early on when Gary Bollan
crossed for Camacho to head past United goalkeeper Paul Gallacher with the aid
of a slight deflection after just eight minutes.
The home side paid a price in scoring, however, as Barry Wilson injured his
hamstring in the build up and had to be replaced by Davide Xausa.
Following the opening goal, Livingston went on to dominate most of the first
half.
Substitute Xausa could have extended their lead when he got on the end of
Andrews' knock-down but keeper Gallacher spread himself brilliantly to block the
striker's effort.
Francisco Quino came closer still when a poor clearance allowed him to send in
a low driven shot which Gallacher parried brilliantly.
The rebound fell to Rolando Zarate but his angled drive flew inches wide of
the goalkeeper's far post.
Livingston continued to pin United back and got the goal they deserved in the
51st minute.
Determined work from Camacho earned the West Lothian side a corner.
Lee Makel sent over an in-swinging cross which found Andrews rising unmarked
in the box.
The defender needed only the merest of touches to deflect the ball beyond
Gallacher in the United goal.
As the second half progressed, Livingston continued to keep the visitors at a
distance with United struggling to make a dent in the host's lead.
Indeed, it was United's keeper Gallacher who continued to show fine form in
order to keep the score down.
First, he pulled out a superb one-handed save from Camacho, diving at full
stretch, before getting down well to block Bingham's effort after the Livi
forward had latched on to a loose ball on the edge of the box.
United, for all their efforts, saw their best effort of the second half fly
over the bar when Stephen Carson let fly from 30 yards.
But Livingston killed off any United resistance four minutes from time with
the goal of the day.
Bingham and Xausa combined to brilliant effect, to carve open the United
defence yet again.
Their one-two allowed Bingham a clear run on goal and, although Gallacher
closed down the angles, Bingham beat him with a superb chip.
